Recommended Sightseeing Guide in Beijing

Starting Point: Qianmen Jianguo Hotel (No.175 Yong'an Road, Xicheng District)

Tiananmen Square & The Palace Museum

Tiananmen Square is the largest city central square in the world, where you can watch the flag-raising ceremony, visit the Monument to the People's Heroes and enjoy the exterior view of the National Museum. The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, was the royal palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties and a world cultural heritage. With red walls, yellow glazed roofs and magnificent ancient buildings along the central axis, it is a must-visit historical landmark in Beijing.

Tour Duration: Half a day (1 hour for the square + 3 hours for the Palace Museum)

Tips: Real-name reservation 1-3 days in advance is required. The Palace Museum is closed on Mondays. Please bring your ID card and wear comfortable flat shoes.

Transportation: Take Metro Line 7/8 from Hufangqiao Station to Qianmen Station (2 stops), walking distance to the scenic spot, about 25 minutes in total; taxi takes about 10 minutes, around 3 kilometers.

Temple of Heaven Park

The Temple of Heaven was a sacred place for emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship heaven and pray for harvests, and it is the largest ancient heaven-worshipping architectural complex worldwide. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests features blue glazed tiles and golden tops with solemn symmetrical architecture. The park is shaded by ancient cypresses with a quiet environment, including the Echo Wall and Three Echo Stones. The night lighting is stunning, perfect for leisure walking and photo shooting during the conference break.

Transportation: Take Metro Line 7 transfer to Line 5 to Temple of Heaven East Gate Station, about 20 minutes; walking distance is only 2 kilometers, around 25 minutes.

Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, consisting of Wanshou Mountain and Kunming Lake. The Long Corridor is exquisitely painted; Foxiang Tower overlooks the entire lake and mountain scenery; Suzhou Street features the style of Jiangnan water towns. It combines the grandeur of northern royal gardens and the elegance of Jiangnan landscapes with different scenery in four seasons.

Tour Duration: 3 hours, recommended in the morning

Transportation: Take Metro Line 7 transfer to Line 4 directly to Summer Palace North Gate, about 40 minutes; taxi takes about 25 minutes, around 12 kilometers.

Olympic Park (Bird's Nest & Water Cube)

Olympic Park is the core venue area of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, landmark buildings including the National Stadium (Bird's Nest), National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) and Ice Ribbon. The unique steel structure and modern appearance are highly designable with bright night lights, serving as a modern city card of Beijing, suitable for walking and sightseeing in the evening during the conference.

Tour Duration: 1-2 hours, recommended in the evening

Transportation: Take Metro Line 8 directly from Hufangqiao to Olympic Park Station, 12 stops about 35 minutes; taxi takes about 30 minutes, around 15 kilometers.

Shichahai & Nanluoguxiang

Shichahai consists of Qianhai, Houhai and Xihai, with weeping willows along the bank and old Beijing hutongs all around, full of local life atmosphere. Nanluoguxiang is one of the oldest historical hutongs in Beijing, lined with specialty snacks, cultural and creative stores and Internet-famous cafes. You can enjoy ancient hutong style and taste Beijing local food, ideal for leisure stroll around dinner time.

Transportation: Take Metro Line 8 transfer to Line 6 to Nanluoguxiang Station, walking to Shichahai about 25 minutes; taxi takes only 15 minutes, around 5 kilometers.

Badaling Great Wall

Badaling Great Wall is the best-preserved and most famous section of the Ming Great Wall. The wall winds along the mountain ridges with dense enemy towers and magnificent momentum, known for the famous saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man". You can hike on foot to feel the historical heritage or take a cable car to overlook the panoramic view of mountains and the Great Wall, a classic must-experience itinerary in Beijing.

Tour Duration: One-day trip, recommended departure before 8:00 a.m.

Tips: Online reservation in advance is required; please prepare drinking water and light snacks.

Transportation: Take metro to Beijing North Railway Station, transfer to Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway directly to Badaling Great Wall Station, about 1 hour in total; you can also take tourist special bus from Qianmen, about 1.5 hours.

2. The hotel is close to Hufangqiao Metro Station (Line 7/8). Metro is recommended for convenient and efficient travel.

3. For conference breaks, choose short-distance attractions such as Temple of Heaven, Olympic Park and Shichahai for relaxed sightseeing.
